In the spirit of giving . . .

For a second year, employees of JHFCU have contributed time and money to make the holidays more memorable for two families in the Hopkins community. The Share & Care Holiday program sponsored by Corporate Security, Parking & Transportation Services gives families the opportunity to have a Christmas that they may have not otherwise been able to afford. Due to the overwhelming response last year, JHFCU adopted a second family this year.

JHFCU gives back to the community all through the year. In the summer, JHFCU raised over $24,000 for The Children’s Center at our annual golf tournament, with a total over the past ten years of $120,000. Employees of JHFCU also painted ceiling tiles over three weekends at the Children’s Center to create a brighter environment for the kids who have to spend time there.

We are proud to be a part of the Hopkins community and look forward to continuing to give back in 2010.

JHFCU Employee Receives Geneva Barnes Service Award

In honor of longtime employee Geneva Barnes who passed away in 2007, JHFCU has established the annual Geneva Barnes Service Award. The purpose of the award is to help us carry on the tradition of excellent member service by recognizing one employee each year for outstanding service given to members.

We are pleased to acknowledge Mary Ann Plummer as our winner this year. “What compelled me to nominate Mary Ann is the tireless and seemingly effortless manner in which she conducts her duties as Assistant Branch Manager. I have sought Mary Ann’s assistance on countless issues and regardless of the complexity and no matter how much she has on her plate, her welcoming spirit and can-do attitude always remain steady and consistent,” said one nominating JHFCU employee.

Each year the winner receives a monetary award, a plaque for their office, and a $500 donation from JHFCU in the recipient’s name to the winner’s favorite charitable organization. A permanent plaque hangs in the in the East Baltimore branch listing the winners.
